Born on July 23, 1930, in Saint-Nazaire. He trained at the Collège Technique de Saint-Nazaire before joining Chantiers de l’Atlantique at age 17, first as a draftsman, then as a model maker and design draftsman. He remained there for 16 years and participated in the construction and decoration of numerous transatlantic liners.

It was in 1963 that Gustave Tiffoche began producing unique pieces in glazed stoneware.

In 1987, he was invited to teach at the École d’Art Plastique de Saint-Nazaire, where he taught until 1990. After participating in the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in Paris in 1969, he received the Gold Medal for Creative Crafts at the Stuttgart International Exhibition that same year. He also participated in exhibitions in Montreal in 1970, Munich in 1971, Faenza in 1972, Dakar in 1984, and Saarlouis in 1994.
